What is Diyawara?
Diyawara is a movie about a little child’s effort of using technology to bring prosperity to his underserved village. The child in discussion named “Sirimal Bandara” finds out that his family is out of food and the reason for the issue is the drainage of the village tank which is not in a usable condition. When he goes to school, he finds out that several university students presenting a lecture on the usage of computers in our daily lives. Then the students donate a computer to the school. Sirimal, at the beginning struggles with the technology and one of the university student’s helps sirimal to learn information technology. Sirimal, due to his endless effort, learns the subject up to a satisfactory level and creates and hosts a web site regarding collecting aid for his village’s drained tank. Then he uses one of his university friends to promote his site and people around the world gathers around to provide the man power and money in rebuilding the tank. Finally, by using the aids and the volunteers, sirimal reconstructs the tank and as a result water is supplied among the paddy fields and it brings prosperity to his village by eradicating hunger.
